Juice Plus+: Jennifer Lankford: Aspermont, TX

WOW! It's been over a year since I posted to my family blog. So many new things going on and so many places to tell you about them. Facebook, Instagram, email, shutterfly blog, text....etc. etc. Too many to keep up with.

We celebrated 2 years in Aspermont this past February. Jaiden just turned 4, Isaac turned 7 and Hadleigh will be 7 in about 17 days or so. Erik is still working on his doctorate and any help nudging him along is greatly appreciated. wink. wink. I am not doing much photography but enough to keep me busy.

The most recent news is that I have become a distributor for Juice Plus+. If you have never heard of it please go check out my website.

It is an awesome product.

What is Juice Plus+?

Next Best Thing To Fruits and Vegetables

Juice Plus+ is whole food based nutrition, including juice powder concentrates from 25 different fruits, vegetables and grains. Juice Plus+ helps bridge the gap between what you should eat and what you do eat every day. Not a multivitamin, medicine, treatment or cure for any disease, Juice Plus+ is made from quality ingredients carefully monitored from farm to capsule to provide natural nutrients your body needs to be at its

I became a distributor mainly to help pay for my family to be on the Juice Plus. I couldn't believe I didn't have to pay anything up front or keep inventory of the product. For my family of 7 it's comes out to approximately $160 month. That's $1.59 per day for the adults and $ .82 per day for my kids for 100% organic fruits and vegetables. Gluten, wheat and dairy FREE.

I ended up telling a few people about the product and signed up 2 families in the first 30 days and got a $100 bonus. How exciting is that? Trying to meet my next goal by July 15 to get a $250 bonus. It's so fun helping others get healthy and so easy with Juice Plus.

Let me tell you that this is NOT a multivitamin. Simply a way to get your daily servings of fruits and vegetables. Also, for every adult order you place you can get a child for FREE if they are age 4 or older, even college aged kids. It doesn't even have to be your kid! BONUS. Can be a neighbor, friend, niece, nephew or grandchild.

Check out my site and contact me with any questions or comments or concerns.

Halloween In Aspermont 2012

Celebrating our FIRST Halloween in Aspermont, TX. The kids were invited to a costume birthday party the Saturday before Halloween. We went cheap and easy this year, I was too exhausted to do too much. They didn't care though.

I ordered Jaiden and Isaac's reversible capes on Etsy and then I made the Batman Applique out of felt. I also made the girls "witch" hats too. That was fun and they turned out pretty cute. Not perfect, but not too bad.
Libby's little black body suit came from my friend Courtney at CamBows Hairbows.
You can find her on Face Book.

My friend Sallie and I found this idea on Pinterest and made our Skeleton Shirts. We used freezer paper to "free hand" the skeletons and then painted them on. It was so fun. I'm writing this so late, I barely remember being pregnant now.
Hadleigh and Isaac had gymnastics on Halloween night so we went Trick or Treating with our friends in Abilene. This was really their first time to actually go door to door. I think we did a little last year in Kerrville, but this year we went all over their neighborhood. They had a blast.

This photo really has nothing to do with Halloween, but it was Libby's last day as a ONE year old so I had to take her photo in this ADORABLE outfit I bought from SheShe Made. I can't believe how much she's grown since I took this picture. Well maybe not grown in height, but she has changed.

Hadleigh's 5th Birthday Party

Not sure if you saw the post about Isaac and Jaiden's Birthday Party, but I was definitely NOT on top of things this year. I was hoping to have these really great and cute parties for their Birthday up through their 5th party. I wanted to have this REALLY cute Princess and Pirate party or maybe a Candy Land party.

Well, I guess we've had a lot going on this year. I totally dropped the ball.

Although Hadleigh's turned out better than the boys as far as the decorations go. The photographer in me wants to have really great pictures to remember the events.

So I've already been planning Libby's for about a month now. :)

Anyway, Hadleigh decided last minute that she wanted a Fresh Beat Band Party.
So I googled it and found a limited selection of ideas.
The Nick Jr. website gave me a lot of great ideas and I even printed her invitation from there.
Cheesy I know.

She had fun and really all she cared about was the pinata.
Which, only 3 or 4 kids got to hit b/c it broke so quickly.
Come to find out it was a "pull string" pinata.
I'm a dummy.

Enjoy the pics.

Lankford #4 has arrived

On June 1st CPS went to court to recommend that Jaiden come to live with us. Court was held around 1:00 pm or so and by 10:30 p.m. that night we had Jaiden in our home. The judge ruled that he immediately be placed in our home (even though we were not TECHNICALLY certified) or he would have to go to a group home until we were available.

Of course we said to bring him here. We did not want him to go anywhere else.

The CPS caseworker and Jaiden hopped on a plane and flew in to Abilene and drove to Aspermont.

When he got to our home he was exhausted. He had just fallen asleep.

He was terrified, scared and extremely sad.

They had yanked him from his Grandma and she really didn't get to say goodbye to him. I am sad for her about that.

He doesn't really talk much.

He's less verbal than Libby who is 19 months old.

Please pray for his speech.

By the next morning on Saturday he seemed to be doing fine.
He woke up.
No crying,
Ate breakfast.
Played with all the kids outside.
Did not stop until about 6:30 that evening.
He was like the energizer bunny.

So far he is a good sleeper.
Aunt Lauren brought him a toddler bed, but he was used to sleeping in a crib still.
We have to sit with him most nights until he falls asleep.

Introducing Lankford children #4 and #5

So you may have read about the sickness I had when we first moved here and the stabbing I inflicted upon myself within the first few weeks we were in our new home. There has been something going on constantly and I can't seem to catch my breath.

We, and by we, I mean me and the kids or just me and then there was one time when we all, went back to Kerrville to visit. Each time it has been for work, but also an excuse to visit. We miss our friends and our life there, but we are very happy to be right where we are in the midst of where God has placed us for this part of our journey.

On March 30th I took a pregnancy test. I had actually taken one a week before and it was negative.
This time.....YEP.....you guessed it.
POSITIVE.

Kind of took us by surprise only because we weren't really "planning" it.
Right before Libby turned one, we decided we would start "trying" again.
So Dr. W started me on the Clomid and we did this for I think 4 months. When we moved I decided it was time for a break.
We sort of had a lot going on.
Anyway, obviously the Lord had plans for us and I ended up getting pregnant naturally with NO drugs!
YAY.

Fast forward to 3 weeks later.
I get a phone call from CPS on my voice mail.
When I called them back they explained to me that our Son Isaac has a biological brother.
Same Mom and Dad.
He's been in foster care since he was 11 months old, living with his Great Grandmother, who is 80 years old.
His birthday is June 9th and he is about to be 3 years old.
That's almost EXACTLY 2 years younger than Isaac, who's birthday is June 15th.
His name is Jaiden and his parental rights have been terminated and they want us to consider adopting him.
WHOA!
Talk about a lot to take in. Of course, we immediately said we would pray about it and consider it. We have always known that if either of our adopted children would have a sibling it would most likely be Isaac.

All that's to say, we have been getting re-certified as foster parents so that Jaiden could come live with us! Court date is June 1st where they will rule and then hopefully sometime that week we will be able to get him.

Last Friday I went in for my 12 week check up and the EDD is December 3.
Introducing the Lankford's Poppyseed #2
That's where our life is at now.
It's non stop around here.
Stay tuned to see where our adventures take us!

Our new adventures: Pastoral Interview Process

Erik and I started talking about him being a pastor a while back. I can't remember when. Maybe when he started his doctorate program. I know he had discussed it a bit with our Pastor John Petty before he passed away. Once he finished his classwork we felt like it was time to start really thinking about it. He had a pastor from Dallas call him, he had received his resume from someone and was interested in interviewing him. However, it was another Children's Ministry position, and however much we liked the Pastor and the location and the church there it would be a lateral move for us. The more we prayed, thought and sought council about it we realized it was not what the Lord had for us.

So a few months later Erik gets a call from a search committee from First Baptist Church Aspermont Texas. Again they had received his resume from one of his professors at Hardin Simmons. So we moved forward with that. We went the Sunday after Thanksgiving to a small church outside of Abilene in Hawley, TX so Erik could preach in a "neutral" place and they could see if he was someone they wanted to present to their church as a potential candidate. The search committee was awesome and we had a lunch after to talk with them a little more and they called that evening and asked us to come in "view of a call".

It's OBVIOUS that God's hand was in all of this and we are so thankful. We came in view of a call in January and received a vote in favor of us coming as the new Pastor of FBC Aspermont.

Some of our friends threw us a "Going Away Party"

The moving truck came February 13, 2012 and we came to Aspermont on the 15th. We are living in the parsonage right next to our church. It's 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, 2 living areas, laundry room, 2 car garage and a HUGE back yard.

Everyone is so kind and helpful. Several people brought us meals and helped out around the house. Our refrigerator was stocked when we got here too! It's AMAZING to see how far God has brought our family.

Mom came one weekend and helped me paint Hadleigh and Libby's room and next we will paint Isaac's room and hopefully our bedroom. I think we are getting settled in fairly well. The big kids started Pre-K at the elementary school. 5 days a week from about 7:30 am - 11 am. They are loving it and their teacher Mrs. Brown.

Isaac has made a friend named Mason who we found out lives right behind us. They can walk out the back gate and go play. He has a trampoline and his mom invited them over anytime.

Hadleigh says she doesn't have any friends, but there are 2 girls in here class that go to our church. Georgia and Shelby. I told here if she wasn't so bossy the girls might like her better. heeheehee

Libby just stays at home with me all day, every day. She LOVES it I think. She's adjusting well in the nursery. She's usually the only one in there.

I am probably the one having the hardest time adjusting. Two weeks after we got here the kids and I went back to Kerrville so I could shoot the schools that I had scheduled. We returned home and on Sunday morning I got so sick. I could hardly move. My body ached and I could not even get out of bed.
Erik had to get the kids ready and take them to church by himself. I felt so bad for him. He actually ended up having to bring Isaac back home just before he  preached b/c he was acting up so bad.

OH MY!

The next day I was told by my good friend that I should go to the doctor. So I did. Did a flu test. Not the flu. It was some kind of Bronchial infection. Took my antibiotic and cough medicine. The very next Sunday I started coughing up blood.

OH MY!

I could not believe this. So Monday I went back to see the Doctor. He did a chest xray and some blood work to see what was going on. Blood work came back normal. Said the blood was probably from coughing so much and it was normal with bronchitis. Chest x-ray showed pneumonia. Awesome.

The next week on Thursday I was slicing a frozen banana, the knife slipped and I stabbed myself between my pointer finger and my thumb. Erik was out with some guys "running cattle". He had never done this before so they invited him to come. They left very early in the morning. I had already taken the kids to school when this happened. Tried to get a hold of Erik and he couldn't be reached. In the meantime I passed out TWICE before finally calling one of the girls I had been working out with to come take me to the ER. She and her sister both came. One stayed with Libby and the other took me to the hospital. An hour and 2 stitches later I was home and they had gone to Erik and bring him home.

This past Thursday ( a week later), I went to get my stitches out. YEP. That's 4 times in 4 weeks to be at the hospital/clinic in a town I've only lived in for 6 weeks.

SOMEBODY HELP ME!

hahahaha.

I started doing a workout with two girls from the church. We meet almost everyday during the week around 4 and do a video workout. Then we started the couch to 5K as well this past week. It's been good to finally get out of the house and do something productive.

Over all we are so happy here. Erik is doing well (still procrastinates a bit) preparing a sermon for Sunday morning and two bible studies for the week. We are certainly being taken care of. We found out recently that they have collected money together to buy the kids a play set for the back yard.
AMAZING.

God is so good. Thanks to all our friends and our family for your love and support and prayers throughout this process. We miss our friends terribly back in Kerrville, but we know that we are RIGHT where God wants us to be.
